The U.S. healthcare system desperately needs an "innovation" injection and startup accelerators such as Healthbox and RockHealth aim to do just that. Founded earlier this year by business incubator Sandbox Industries, Healthbox, an accelerator program for healthcare startups, is accepting final applications for its inaugural class in Chicago.
Healthbox has assembled a world-class mentor network (full disclosure I am a Healthbox mentor) that will provide healthcare startups with invaluable advice and connections. You'll be able to generate ideas, test assumptions and focus your business in a dynamic workspace alongside other promising startups--with some seed capital ($50k per team) to boot.
Healthbox enjoys the support of nationally-renowned organizations that foster innovation in healthcare. As part of the Sandbox family, the Healthbox team has access to the same Blue Cross and Blue Shield health plans and partner organizations that support Sandbox Ventures. Healthbox is now accepting applications through the Healthbox website for high-potential healthcare entrepreneurs to participate in an intensive 12-week program.
Applications close October 16th, and the program is set to begin in Chicago in January 2012, so I encourage you to apply ASAP!
